But our WHY isn’t this at all. Our WHY is actually quite different. We share this little piece of information with you, not to boast or to “try” to be different (we believe we are already different!). We share this with you to inspire you, and to also help you to understand WHY we do what we do. It really is because we care!
Many, many years ago, before JTR & Associates was even established, we had a dream of rescuing farm animals, the sick and the injured, the abandoned, and the cruelly treated. We wanted to create a farm sanctuary, a safe haven for those that cannot speak for themselves. This was our dream, our goal. It is always great to have a goal (as a business coach would say!), but the goal must also be realistic, and it must also be possible.
With a farm sanctuary comes the need to have funding, to have adequate cash flow to not only support ourselves, but also those that we rescue. There were people to educate about the cruelty of factory farming and how a vegetarian/vegan diet is actually good for you, let alone the poor animals. After much research and game planning, we soon realised that this dream could not be a reality in the way that we wanted it to be. We were not any good at getting publicity and sponsorship for our idea, we had no experience with running a farm, or even looking after the animals as they should be looked after. We had absolutely no experience in doing these sorts of things. We just had a dream, a purpose, a vision. But what could we do? How could we achieve what we believe is our purpose – we believe so much in it, how can we make it a reality? How, how, how?
After some soul searching, we realised we must focus on our skills. What DO we have that we are good at? Accounting. TICK. How can we use this to achieve our dream and purpose. Run an accounting business. TICK. This will definitely get us the funding. TICK. So JTR & Associates was born. And along the way, we found another person that shared our dream. Ms Pam Ahern at Edgar’s Mission. Everything that we had wanted was already in motion by someone else. So why would we go out there and create another farm?
So this is the story of our WHY. This is WHY we do what we do and we share this with you as a gift, this Christmas. This is where a portion of our profit goes. This is our WHY.
