Why a visit with your accountant is like your very first date

Sep 25 2014

Ladies, do you remember the moment when you first met your husband, fell in love and never looked back?

Men, do you remember when you first caught that first glimpse of your future wife?

When you pay your lovely dear accountant the annual visit, you should walk away with the same feeling. A feeling of elation, of excitement, of pure euphoria – like you are “walking on sunshine” (Katrina & The Waves).

Whatever problems you may have, your accountant should be able to help you, provide you a solution, or put you in touch with someone that does have a solution to your problem. Do not fear the third party involvement (unlike in a marriage!), because more than likely, they are highly skilled in their area, and the solution they have for your accounting/tax/operational issues will be the best one for you.

No problem is ever without a solution, and although it may take some time to roll out the plan, you and your accountant should be able to formulate a strategy, and when the time comes, your problem is no longer.

If you have to pay tax, you should be gently reminded by your accountant, that that is a fantastic problem to have. Why? Because you are making profit!!! Your business is growing!!! You are successful! Tax is not necessarily a bad or evil thing! Yes, granted no one wants to pay too much tax, but that’s also where your fantastic accountant will assist you throughout the year, with tax effective and minimisation strategies!

So ladies and gentlemen, when you take the first step into your accountant’s office – smile! Be happy – there is a solution waiting for you on the other side of the door. And hopefully when you walk out, you will feel the same way you did, when you met your life partner. Content. Happy. Satisfied.
